Troi Activator Plug-in 2.7

October 9th, 2008: We have released a new version of Troi Activator Plug-in, our plug-in for triggering scripts, from a calculation or even remotely from an other computer.
Troi Activator Plug-in 2.7 runs with FileMaker Pro 9, is compatible with Windows Vista and is a Universal Mac OS X plug-in. The 2.7 release adds new switches to get a list of all the events that the plug-in knows about, including future and triggered events. We also added a new standardized Version function specifically for the Auto Update functionality of FileMaker Server.

* Script triggering in FileMaker 10 and 11

Starting with FileMaker 10, script triggers are now a native feature of the FileMaker product. However, Troi Activator Plug-in is still needed if you want to trigger scripts on a different computer. Vista Compatible

Troi Activator Plug-in 2.7 runs natively with FileMaker Pro 9 and FileMaker Pro Advanced 9, but also with FileMaker Pro 7, 8.x, 10 and 11.

Troi Activator Plug-in 2.7 is also compatible with Windows Vista. The Mac OS X version is a Universal plug-in which runs natively on PowerPC and Intel Macs!

What is new in v2.7?

Troi Activator Plug-in 2.7 is compatible with FileMaker 9 but also for this release the function calls stay completely the same, so you don't have to rewrite any scripts! This release adds these new features:

• Added new switch "-GetAllEventsList" to the Actr_GetEventInfo function. This will return a tab separated list of all the events that the plug-in knows about, including future and triggered events.
• Added new switch "-GetAllEventIDs" to the Actr_GetEventInfo function. This will return a list of all the eventIDs that the plug-in knows about, including future and triggered events.
• Added new Actr_VersionAutoUpdate function. The Actr_VersionAutoUpdate function is part of an emerging standard for FileMaker plug-ins of third party vendors of plug-ins. The version number is returned in the format aabbccdd where every letter represents a digit of the level, so versions can be easily compared.
• Improved the display and handling of registration codes.
• Fixed a few bugs too.

We also added support for 10-user packs and 25-user packs. These multi-user packs are cross-platform and are an easy and cost effective way to purchase several licenses. You can buy them in our shop.

Background processing

Activator Plug-in can trigger silent events and background events. This allows you to keep the main application free, while the background FileMaker application, for example a runtime application, does some time consuming work on data.

Control function

Troi Activator has a control function to disable all script triggers, so you can do maintenance on the database.

Trigger Scripts on remote computers!

Troi Activator Plug-in is a very powerful tool for triggering scripts remotely. All from within FileMaker you can:

• trigger a FileMaker script on a different computer!
• trigger a FileMaker script over the Internet!
• use the built-in security to prevent unauthorized triggering
• send a number (e.g. a record ID) and a long text with the trigger
• start and stop listening for remote trigger messages with a script step
• communicate with databases in different FileMaker versions or even runtimes.

This allows you to:

• notify a colleague (on a different computer) of changes in his/her appointments
• start processing, like for example retrieve email on a server computer
• get someone out of a record, so that it is no longer locked.

The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

More triggering!

Except from remote triggering you can also:

• trigger a script from a tooltip calculation!
• trigger a script on a specified date and time
• schedule events which trigger any script you want
• validate fields on exiting a record with a custom script suited to your specific needs
• put the computer to sleep till it needs to be activated again (Mac only)

Try Troi Activator Plug-in before you buy

You are free and invited to test the plug-in before you pay. You may also make copies of the original and complete package (including the Read Me file) and distribute it to customers, friends etc. However, you may not distribute a modified or registered version. Troi Activator Plug-in is available for FileMaker 7 and later on Mac OS X and Windows Vista or Windows XP and costs US$ 89 per user.
